One of the most important activities of “RPC-Co” is the struggle against stray animals (dogs and cats).
This type of activity is carried out strictly in accordance with the requirements of the “European Convention on the Protection of Domestic Animals” (Strasbourg, 11/13/1987), as well as the relevant decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan. (Baku, 09.03.2011).
The procedure includes the following steps:
- Inspection. The purpose of the inspection is to determine the number of stray animals, their place of residence, behavioral characteristics (aggressiveness), time of appearance in the area, etc.
- Based on the results of the inspection, a work plan is drawn up for catching stray animals and removing them from the area. Animal capture is carried out by a bloodless, mechanical method. Various mechanical devices (nets, lassos, loops) are used for this purpose.
- The captured animal is placed in special cages (metal and plastic) and placed in a special covered vehicle and taken out of the area.
- The captured stray animal is sent to the Veterinary Department of Baku city or to a special utility service department. RPC-Co has relevant contracts with these government agencies.
- The caught animal is examined by our veterinarian as well as by the veterinarians of those organizations. Sick animals are immediately euthanized. Healthy animals are released for 3-5 days. If the owner of the animal is found during this period, the animal is given to the new owner after the appropriate vaccination. If a new owner is not found during this period, the animal is euthanized.
- According to international requirements, euthanasia is considered the most painless and humane way of killing animals. Euthanasia is usually performed in 2 stages. In the first stage, the animal is given a sedative drug. After falling asleep, a second drug is injected into the animal, which initiates euthanasia for the animal in deep sleep. Euthanasia is performed by a veterinarian.
- The bodies of the killed animals are transported to special areas and burned there in the incinerator.
- All work related to the capture and transportation of animals is carried out by specially trained “RPC-Co” employees who regularly undergo medical examinations and receive appropriate vaccinations at Medi.Club.
